|Dear OAS Member/Friend,|
2020 – A new decade, an expanded Oceanic Arts Fair in Sydney and the tenth Oceanic Arts Forum in Melbourne.
Season’s Greetings and Best Wishes for 2020 from the Committee of the Oceanic Art Society.
We are looking forward to celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the OAS with a number of exciting events planned across 2020.
The National Art School (NAS) will be hosting the highly successful and renamed Sydney Oceanic Arts Fair on 15th August. Recognising our geographic location in the Pacific, this expanded Fair will appeal to a wider and more diverse range of art lovers and collectors of both historic and contemporary art from first peoples globally. Situated within the historic walls of the old Darlinghurst Gaol, the NAS is a culturally significant Australian visual arts institution that traces its history back to the Sydney Mechanics School of Art, where the first lecture was given in 1843.
The NAS will also be hosting individual OAS lectures during 2020 (Wednesday 11th March and 13th May are currently being planned) as part of our closer relationship.
The tenth Oceanic Art Forum will move south to Melbourne for next year where it will be hosted in a range of prominent and interesting institutions from 13th – 14th November 2020. Early indications are that it will include some fascinating viewings of world class collections and a range of highly respected guest speakers, including several from Europe and the Americas. We are also making preliminary plans for our eleventh Forum around 20th November 2021 in Brisbane.
Put the dates in your diaries now!
