The society's main focus is on Melanesian, Polynesian & Micronesian art; but not to the exclusion of tribal art from other areas, or the contemporary art of the indigenous people of Oceania and Australia. Since its foundation in 1995, the OAS has been organising study groups, public lectures, film screenings, exhibitions with illustrates catalogues, workshops, previews of auctions and book launches. Donations to the society

The society is recognised by the Australian Taxation Office as a non-profit organisation. It is listed on the <register of Cultural Organisations which is administered by the Commonwealth Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts: this status allows for Australian donations to the Society to be tax deductible. Recent donations have made it possible for us to proceed aith the publication of a comprehensive book of our exhibition, 'War Shields of Melanesia'.

We invite you to consider assisting the Society i furthering its aims. Donations may be targeted to a specific project or purpose. Yours may be a one-off donation or you may wish to become a continuing patron. for further information, please email our treasurer.
